Description
THE FIRST BURN When you light your candle for the first time, let it burn until the entire surface has melted into a pool of wax. This is called a ‘melt pool’ and you are aiming for a full melt pool. This process can take a few hours, depending on the size of the candle
Why is the first burn so important?
The first burn sets the "memory" of the wax, ensuring that the candle
burns evenly in the future. This prevents tunnelling, where the candle burns
down the middle, leaving a ring of unused wax around the edges.
Tunnelling not only wastes wax but also reduces the candle's overall burn
time. Not to mention, you will not be getting your money’s worth either.
